Acceptable Use Policy

CIAGA is a space for golf groups to share rounds, results and friendly banter. This policy sets the rules for content and conduct. It forms part of our Terms of Use.

1. Be respectful

Keep it friendly. Banter is welcome; harassment is not. Treat other members as you would on the course.

2. Content you must not post

You must not upload, post or share content that:

is unlawful, or promotes or facilitates illegal activity;
is harassing, bullying, threatening, or incites violence or hatred against people based on a protected characteristic;
is defamatory, obscene, pornographic or grossly offensive;
sexualises or endangers children in any way;
infringes someone else's intellectual property or privacy;
contains someone else's personal information without a lawful reason;
contains malware, spam, or attempts to phish or defraud;
impersonates another person or misrepresents your identity or affiliation.

3. Conduct you must not engage in

attempting to gain unauthorised access to accounts, data or systems;
disrupting, overloading or interfering with the Service or its security features;
scraping or harvesting other members' data;
using the Service to send unsolicited marketing;
manipulating scores, competitions, handicaps or the fantasy game dishonestly.

4. Reporting content

If you see something that breaks these rules, please report it: open the ··· menu on any post, card or story, or the flag on any comment, choose a reason, and add anything else we should know. To report someone’s profile photo or a group’s picture, use the ··· menu on their profile or the group’s page. We’ll confirm on screen that your report has been received, and it goes to us. Who reported something is never shown to the person reported. You can also email privacy@ciagagolf.com. If content may be illegal, we will act promptly once we are aware of it, in line with our duties under the Online Safety Act 2023.

Reported content is hidden straight away. While we build out moderation, anything that’s reported is hidden from everyone as soon as it’s reported, and stays hidden until an admin has reviewed it. The only exception is content we’ve already reviewed and cleared. A report on that comes to us without hiding it again. Being reported isn’t a finding that you broke the rules.

If you would simply rather not see something, Hide this post in the same menu removes it from your feed straight away, without involving anyone else.

5. What we may do

Illegal content. We will take down illegal content swiftly once we become aware of it, and report child sexual abuse material and credible threats to life to the relevant authorities.

For anything else that breaks these rules, we may, at our discretion:

hide or remove content that breaches this policy;
warn, suspend or terminate accounts;
preserve information and cooperate with law enforcement where required.

We aim to be fair and proportionate, and to act quickly on anything illegal or seriously harmful.

If your content is reported, or we act on it

We’ll tell you when something of yours is hidden for review. You’ll find it under Settings → Safety → Reported content in the app, with its status. You can’t delete content while it’s under review, because the review needs it, but it isn’t visible to anyone else. An admin will either put it back or remove it. We’ll let you know which and why, unless doing so would be unlawful or put someone at risk.

Appeals. If you think we got it wrong, appeal from the same screen. You can do that while it’s still under review (to add context) or after we’ve removed it. We’ll look at it again, restore the content if we made a mistake, and explain our decision. If you can’t use the app, email privacy@ciagagolf.com with “Appeal” in the subject line. You can use the same address to complain about how we handled a report, or about anything else to do with how we keep CIAGA safe.
